There’s nothing like a delicious pie, made with a beautifully flaky crust, homemade filling, and sometimes the token dollop of dreamy whipped-cream. And while we’re all for making copious amounts of pies at home, there’s always a time and place for letting someone else work their magic. Great news– there’s a lot of great pie to be had in town, and these are our picks for the very best pie in Salt Lake City. From restaurant pies to bakeries to dedicated pie shops, these are the best spots for all of your crust and filling needs.

3. The Dodo
The Dodo is a restaurant where the dessert is truly the star of the show (and better than the lunch and dinner menu in our opinion)! The famous chalkboard on the northeast side of the building has a list of available desserts and specials each day, but what we’re really here for is the pie. They’re most known for their melt in your mouth tollhouse pie– think chocolate chip cookie in a homemade pie crust. Other noteworthy pies are the key lime pie, banana cream cheese (ask for a side of caramel sauce), and the chocolate almond mousse!

2. Tulie Bakery
Tulie Bakery is our favorite bakery in Salt Lake City, so it’s no surprise that the pie here is also fantastic. Plus the pies here are only available during the Thanksgiving season so it’s an extra special treat to score a pie from Tulie. In November they sell 4-inch pies in their pastry case that you can choose from (if you get there early enough!

), or pre-order a 9-inch pie to pick up the day before Thanksgiving.

Flavors change every year but some of our favs include the apple pie with caramelized apples, whiskey, and browned butter crumble, and the pecan pie with bourbon and orange.

1. Tradition
Our favorite spot for a slice of homemade pie in Salt Lake City is Tradition. It’s a southern restaurant just across the street from Liberty Park (on the north side) and they have homemade pie every day that is straight from the pie Gods. Flaky, perfect crust, paired with delicious filling is the key to our hearts. The pie flavors at Tradition change both daily and seasonally, but you’ll find an array of delicious flavors such as ginger berry, cherry, chocolate, creamsicle, apple, and sweet potato. You can order a slice of pie in the restaurant, or order an entire pie in advance.

Go check out the Crust Club! It’s amazing, handmade dinner and dessert pies that they deliver right to your doorstep. I think it’s at crustclub.com.

Awesome list!!! I had a great time visiting each of them! Per NEEDING to buy various pies from each on this list, I think by now I’ve spent (much to my wife’s dismay) at least 3 or 4 hundred dollars on pie! Totally worth it! I think my family and co-workers are pretty much sick of me going on about what makes a truly exceptional pie 🙂 Out of each of these, my personal favorite is June Pie. Thanks for the great post!

Hi Steven! I am so glad you like my list! Haha eating out can get expensive but if the food is good then (in my opinion) it’s worth it!! Love June Pie! Thanks for reading 🙂

We just tried to order pie at Penny Ann’s and our waitress said she isn’t making them anymore. Darn! We’re excited to try the rest of the pies on this list, though.

Thanks for letting me know about this!
