I was really (reallllly) excited when my boyfriend pulled up to Alamexo a few weeks ago for dinner because I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time. Alamexo is an upscale Mexican restaurant located in the heart of Salt Lake City. It’s a new-ish addition to the SLC dining scene and I had heard great things from other local foodies. We started with the guacamole en molcajete. There is nothing, I have decided, quite like tableside guac.

My pick: enchiladas suizas. Roasted pulled chicken baked in a tomatillo cream sauce topped with melted queso Chihuahua, cilantro, and white onion.

The sauce was creamy, the flavor divine. Cody and I agreed that this was the best entree on the menu.
His pick: enchiladas mole poblano. Pulled pork seasoned with avocado leaf, baked in traditional mole poblano, topped with queso fresco, esquites (Mexican street corn salad), white onion, and toasted sesame seeds. I definitely had a bite.
So the consensus. If you go for anything, go for the guac and the enchiladas suizas. Our top two. Gorgeous renovation with big bright windows, fun wait staff, and lots of lemonade. Because what is Mexican food without lemonade?
