12. Oasis Cafe
Certainly a local gem, we haven’t seen a morning where Oasis Cafe wasn’t packed with loyal patrons. Using local fresh produce, Oasis Cafe specializes in fresh, whole ingredients that will make you feel good. Their brunch menu is served daily until 3:00 p.m., so you have more than enough time to down your fair share of appetizers, eggs benny, and pancakes. You really can’t make a wrong move ordering anything on their menu but we’re partial to their German buttermilk pancake. Covered in fresh blueberry compote and baked in a skillet, you need this hotcake in your life immediately. We also recommend their huevos rancheros for a killer and substantial savory breakfast.

11. Root’d Cafe
Nestled on the edge of Cottonwood Heights is Root’d Cafe, a trendy, local gem serving up some of the best brunch dishes in Salt Lake City. Our favorite benedict is the Root’d Eggs Bene featuring prosciutto, grilled tomatoes, and perfect poached eggs topped with house-made hollandaise that’s so good you’ll want to write home about it. The brown butter pancakes are also a delightfully agreeable sweet item to round out your meal. Lastly and most importantly: all food and drink options are to be enjoyed on the patio.

Any self-respecting brunch guide needs at least one breakfast sandwich shop, and we couldn’t be happier to endorse Frankie & Essl’s. Locally owned and specializing in breakfast sandwiches, Frankie & Essl’s is the perfect neighborhood joint for a quick takeout meal or a cozy brunch with a friend. A toasted and buttered brioche bun topped with two fried eggs is always a good idea for brunch. One of our favorite combos is the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with chipotle aioli sauce. It’s as good as it sounds and well worth your time. We would be in line for these no-frill breakfast sandwiches every morning if we only lived a smidge closer.

SLC Eatery is just a few years old in the Salt Lake City restaurant scene but they serve some of the very best brunch in town. 5. Oquirrh Restaurant
Oquirrh is an extraordinary restaurant in the downtown area of Salt Lake City, and although most people come here to enjoy their stellar dinner menu, their brunch is nothing to sleep on. Every dish is packed with flavor, elegance, and that can’t-get-enough-of-this factor, which is exactly why we can never eat here too many times. For something sweet, get the bread pudding french toast, topped with seasonal fruit and maple syrup. If you’re down for something savory, try the eggs benedict (both the classic and crab are killer) or order the Oquirrh burger for one of the best burgs in town.

4. Feldman’s Deli
Feldman’s Deli is the only authentic Jewish deli for miles within the SLC area and serves some of the best breakfast and brunch in Salt Lake City. We’re typically here for their swoon-worthy sandwiches during their lunch and dinner hours, but the breakfast menu is not to be missed. Breakfast offerings are almost exclusively savory, with menu items like salami and eggs, the Feldman’s omelet, or corned beef has. You’re here for the eggs benny (our favorite), served on a Jewish latke with Taylor ham and to-die-for hollandaise sauce.

3. Urban Hill
As if we needed another reason to visit Urban Hill, they also have a stellar brunch menu on Sunday mornings. It’s outstanding and truly some of the best brunch in Salt Lake City. When you’re getting a reservation for Urban Hill brunch, we recommend the earliest time available to watch the restaurant slowly come to life in the gorgeous interior dining room. Start your morning with a Hill’s Kitchen orange roll for a perfectly baked roll topped with the perfect amount of cream cheese frosting (literally had icing for every bite). For the main event, order the green chile eggs benedict (the kick of green chile is everything and signature to Urban Hill). Now this is brunch.

Manoli’s is one of the best restaurants in Salt Lake City, but often overlooked is their brunch, offered Saturday and Sunday every weekend. Manoli’s is a Mediterranean restaurant, so you can expect a great mix of traditional and unconventional brunch dishes, from biscuits and gravy, to loukaniko (Greek sausage) and eggs, to myzithra pancakes. Menu favorites include the made-to-perfection house greek yogurt (served with local honey and seasonal toppings), the aforementioned light and fluffy myzitrha pancakes, and their classic and completely satisfying eggs benedict.

1. Roots Cafe
Situated away from downtown in Millcreek, Roots Cafe has everything you want in a great neighborhood breakfast establishment: the perfect cozy and laid back environment, warm and friendly service, and (above all) fantastic food that will leave you satisfied and beyond. Roots Cafe serves fresh and flavorful menu items, so whether you’re enjoying a green smoothie with scrambled eggs or biscuits and gravy, you’ll always leave feeling happy and contented. Start with one of their fresh juices (we love “the cleanser”), and order the huevos rancheros, the eggs benni, the mixed berry crepes, or one of their delicious and filling buckwheat pancakes or the “pancake of the day” special. Roots Cafe is no secret, so show up right when they open or be prepared to wait, especially on weekends.
Natalie
I feel like this list is incomplete without Roots Cafe. It’s hard to talk myself in to going anywhere else for breakfast/brunch.
Brooke
Haven’t been to Roots Cafe yet- I’ll have to put it on my list!
Jessi
Roots it’s good, but the wait is always awful. Not worth it to me!
Keith
They let you call ahead to put your name on the list. Just a heads up, it definitely helps cut down on how long you stand around.
Bridget
I second this! Roots is the absolute best breakfast place I’ve been to. You need to try it!!
phyllis jones
yes, hands down roots cafe. It is a must and way better then some that were posted
Brooke Eliason
LOVE roots! I agree amazing breakfast and brunch.
Scentsy Katie
The Rose has been a long time favorite but happy to see some new places in town. Can’t wait to check them out. Thanks for the new list.
Becky
Great round up! These are some of my favorites too 🙂
Brooke
Thanks Becky! I could go for some late night breakfast right now 🙂
Elaine
Mouth just watering!!! I love good eggs “Benny”! Your reviews were so great! I can’t wait to try some of your spots for breakfast. Trouble is we live in St George and our city really needs a great breakfast cafe!! (Real Hollandaise)
Even Stevens just open on the Blvd before the holidays. I’m there trying the burrito tomorrow!!!!
Thanks so much!!!
Brooke
Hi Elaine! My husband and I were just in St.G a couple of months ago and we agree- there is SUCH a need for a great breakfast spot. We absolutely love Even Stevens and hope you will too! In the meantime, please let me know of any great St. George foodie spots- we are always looking 🙂
Cindi
Have you tried Bear Paw Cafe in St. George?
Brooke Eliason
Yes- not a big fan, unfortunately.
Erik
George’s Corner Restaurant and Pub is a wonderful addition to St. George as well as the classic Bear Paw.
Nora
Add to your list to try:
Oasis Cafe
Market Street Grill – classic
Provisions
Copper Onion
Tony Caputos (15th & 15th)
Brooke
My mom and I absolutely love having Market Street Grill at the airport (and swear that their breakfast is better there). Amazing! Need to try Provisions 🙂 Thanks for your recommendations!
Courtney
Blue Plate Diner is a must! It’s my go to breakfast/brunch spot. Amazing food and a cool laid back vibe.
Brooke
I was really underwhelmed with Blue Plate Diner- It’s been a couple years though. Maybe time to try give it another shot 🙂
Evie
Nah…still underwhelming… Was there yesterday.
James
Current fish and oyster’s brunch is absolutely to die for, as well as Avenues Proper! Whiskey Streets brunch is at the top of my list as well. Expand your horizons dear!
Brooke
Thanks for your recommendations, James!
Catie
Over the counter cafe has been yummy in the past, along with Eggs in the City. I’m dissapointed to see chain restaurants when we have really cool local spots.
Brooke
I have never been to over the counter cafe! I will have to try it out- thanks for the recommendation 🙂
Erika Sullivan
Over the Counter is awesome! At least it was years ago when I was a newlywed!
Brooke Eliason
Okay awesome! What do you like to order there? I have driven past several times!
Catie
I grew up going to OTC and feel like a little girl again whenever I am there. Their French toast is like candy and I love getting it with bacon, a poached egg, and sourdough toast! Their omelettes are stuffed with goodies as well. The original owners daughter has taken over the restaurant and has added some healthier options and daily specials.
Brooke Eliason
Thanks for those recommendations Catie- I can’t wait to check them out!
Sharlee
I’m a huge breakfast/brunch fan and agree with the half of this list I’ve already tried, so thanks for the other half! I was also underwhelmed with Blue Plate (no fresh avocado?)
My other favorites not mentioned:
Porcupine Pub – start with a chai or other latte, the specials are always good, or I always get the veggie omelet (with ham lol)
Ruth’s Diner – always a wait, but worth it just for the awesome patio experience in warmer weather. Famous for the huge bisquits, but they weren’t my favorite the crab cakes Benedict or chicken fried steak are amazing.
Eggs in the City – potatoes. I have dreams about them!
Bohemian – nobody knows about this yet, so there’s hardly ever a wait and everything on the brunch menu is so good!
…and I would also add Squatters if only for the huevos rancheros mmmm
Happy brunching!
Brooke
Hi Sharlee! Thanks for your comment. I haven’t been to Porcupine for brunch- it’s not on my list! I agree that ruth’s has a great patio experience. Wasn’t blown away by eggs in the city but I have yet to try their potatoes. Can’t wait to give Bohemiam a try! Hope you have a great day!
Brooke
It’s *on my list!
Si
The great thing about being the Female Foodie is you get to create the lists. wink wink. Love this list. A few I haven’t tried. Most I have and agree. You’re doing an amazing job with the reviews and the photos! Thanks for the suggestions!
hugs,
Mum
Brooke
MUM! I am just now seeing your comment. Thanks for making my day. Love you and can’t wait to find more great bfast spots with you. Hugs and loves.
Evie
You forgot Finn’s. They have the best homemade breads and hash browns. Not deep fried pieces of potato…but real, shredded hash browns! The vegetables they use are always freshly chopped and their staff is wonderful.
Jean
How about Finn’s and Les Madeleine’s, these are 2 of my favorites along with Left Fork Grill and Little America.
Jean
Brooke
Love Les Madeleine’s. It isn’t on this list because I rarely choose to go there for a full breakfast, per say. Looking forward to trying Finn’s! What do you like to order there?
Erik
Not only are you missing Roots Cafe, but also Eggs in the City which has recently revamped their menu. No Blue Plate Diner or Ruth’s up Emigration Canyon? This list needs to be the top 20-25 because there are many more great places!
Brooke
Haha okay. Never been a huge fan of blue plate, ruth’s, OR eggs in the city (gasp). Good to know that eggs in the city just revamped their menu. I will have to give it another go. Roots is my one place I have gathered off of this comment thread that I really need to try. Can’t wait.
Brooke
Ps- thanks again for your help at the Apple store the other day. Cody loves his new leather case (and iPhone- ha!).
Erik
Love the list, have tried all but lazy day cafe and will need to go check them out. Can understand why you left blue plate diner off the list, but no Ruth’s diner? Their chicken sasauge is one of the best I’ve ever tasted. I have a go to spot called Brittons, nothing too unique about them , but they are consistent in quality and service and i usually go here if the new OPH in Sandy has too long of a wait. Thanks for the reccomendations
Brooke
Hi Erik! Way to go! Lazy day is my new favorite spot. Those lemon pancakes are out of this world. Oh Ruth’s. I want to love Ruth’s soooo much (obsessed with emigration canyon, love the overall vibe, great location, etc.) but I think their food is mediocre. I DO like their biscuits, however, and I have yet to try the chicken sausage. Looks like I will need to give it another go! I’ll keep an eye out for Brittons. Thanks for the visit!
Erika Sullivan
Yeah Ruth’s has really gone downhill in the last 20 years or so.
Brooke Eliason
Agreed- great biscuits but mediocre menu for almost everything else sadly.
Steve Miller
Awesome list Brooke! I love so many of those places. One of my favorite brunch dishes is The Hangover, at Gracie’s.
Biscuits and Gravy, Melted Cheese, Potatoes, Bacon, Ham, Two Eggs. It doesn’t get better than that (for me)!
Brooke
Thanks Steve!! Can’t wait to try the hangover (#drool)!
Diana
I think Waffle love is better than Bruges. They have a brick and Mortar store on Fort Union by 5 Guys.
Brooke
I like Waffle love, but I’m always more “wowed” when I go to Bruges. I’ll have to try their Fort Union location. Thanks for stopping by!!
Crystal Sisam
You need to try Carl’s Cafe in Cottonwood Heights!! Best omelets, bacon & eggs and French toast around!!
Brooke
Never even heard of them!! Can’t wait to try it. Thanks for stopping by Crystal 🙂
Chanel
Okay trying to decide where to eat for my birthday coming up… For the finca one you have a picture of the french toast but didn’t recommend it. Was it not good? Also wondering about their orange pancakes on the menu…
Brooke
Hey Chanel! Never tried the orange pancakes but they’re delicious! The french toast at Finca was very pretty, but nothing life changing. If you want great pancakes I would go to Penny Anns or Lazy Day Cafe. For french toast, the Park Cafe is supposed to have amazing french toast! Tulie Bakery has some incredible FT too. I would go to Finca for their eggs benny! Hope that helps!
Chanel
And if I’m wanting to get pancakes or French toast where do you think is the best?
Chanel
Si
Brookie just looking for breakfast spot to go with friends tomorrow. The comment thread is as enlightening as your awesome post! Keep up the good work . Loves!

Jaclyn
The Bohemian has the best french toast in the state. Only served Saturday and Sunday their brunch menu is easy to miss but it is a huge mistake not to give them a try.
Brooke Eliason
Hi Jaclyn- thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll definitely check out The Bohemian asap!

Straw market in the avenues.
Brooke Eliason
Really? I have had a less than favorable experience with Straw Market BUT it has been a year or so since I’ve been. Let me know what you like to get there!
Erika Sullivan
I can’t believe Cooper Kitchen in Holladay is not on there! And Silver Fork Lodge in Big Cottonwood Canyon is amazing.
Kathi porter
Hi. We took your suggestion and ate at park cafe. Cutest cafe. It was delicious. Their house potatoes were delicious, and halfway through our meal my husband said, “we are coming back.” Thank you!! And the hot chocolate – so good.
Brooke Eliason
Hi Kathi- thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. It made my day! I think that the Park Cafe is charming and also has great food. So glad that you liked it. 🙂

Love these kinds of lists! Thanks for your efforts. There is a really great breakfast place in NSL that you need to try called The Sunshine Cafe. Always a wait, but still great.
Brooke Eliason
Thanks so much for stopping by Kell! 🙂
cindi
Finn’s! From my group of friends, our favorites are: Eggs Benedict, Pyttipanna, French Toast, French Dip and their pastries. Although granted, they probably aren’t up to scratch with your Best Bakery list! 😉
Brooke Eliason
Thanks so much for the recommendation Cindi!
Lee
Great list! These are definitely some of our favorites. If you get time please go check out Cafe Niche. (3rd south 8th east)There are new owners with an updated dinning room and all fresh cocktail menu. I like to get the wagyu corned beef and hash and add Brussels. The Niche breakfast is great because you get to choose everything from typed of eggs two side like spinach, avocado, house potatoes and bread like their house-made English muffins.if you like margaritas the Pho-Rita with Jalepeno and Thai basil is spicy and refreshing. Brunch every day till 4 and Sunday till 3.
Brooke Eliason
Hi Lee- thanks so much for the comment. I have only been to Cafe Niche once years ago and really liked it. That’s interesting that they have changed ownership- I’ll have to check it out soon. Thanks again!

Have you tried Campos Coffee and Kitchen? It’s Australian style and really great!!
Brooke Eliason
I have tried the Park City location- will need to check out their SLC location soon. Thanks for stopping by 🙂

Sadly I heard that LES MADELEINES will be closing her doors. She’s been a wonderful gem in the Salt Lake Valley.
