19. Pig & a Jelly Jar

Pig & A Jelly Jar is an often forgotten fantastic breakfast and brunch spot in Salt Lake City, with additional locations in Ogden and Holladay. They have a great menu with scrambles and southern specialties and serve some of the best homemade biscuits in town served with locally made jams like strawberry rhubarb and blueberry lavender. Our favorite entree here is the ham hash, made with diced country ham, potatoes, red peppers, onions, local bacon, and sautéed greens, topped with lemon aioli and two sunny side eggs.

18. Avenues Proper

If you’re looking for a great weekend brunch spot in Salt Lake City tucked away in our favorite neighborhood (The Avenues), then a meal at Avenues Proper is a must. From french toast to eggs benedict to chicken and waffles there is something for all breakfast lovers here. The menu does tend to change from time to time so check out their website for the latest details.

17. Hub & Spoke Diner

Hub and Spoke is a great diner that comes from the same creators of Finca, Pago, and East Liberty Tap House serving breakfast and lunch 7 days each week. It’s a great spot for comfort food items, and their breakfast items can be enjoyed during any of their operating hours. Order the crab salad eggs benedict for something you can’t find anywhere else or the Kentucky hot brown (pictured) for the perfect savory conglomeration of turkey, bechamel, bacon, tomato, Swiss cheese, sourdough toast, and a sunnyside egg. Save room for some of their homemade donut holes to cap off your meal.

16. Café Niche

Café Niche is one of the best places to enjoy a minimalist breakfast in Salt Lake City. Situated just a stone’s throw from downtown SLC, this cozy and brightly lit cafe is a great place for breakfast and brunch with your significant other or girlfriends. The signature Niche Breakfast is our favorite order here, made with eggs, bacon or sausage, and two sides of your choice (get the avocado & hash browns), it’s well rounded and delicious. If you’re dining later in the day, the whiskey bacon burger is rich and savory and has amazing depth of flavor.

15. Sweet Lake Biscuits and Limeade

One of the most classic, iconic breakfast spots in Salt Lake City is Sweet Lake Biscuits and Limeade. Originally started as a limeade stand at the Salt Lake City Farmers Market, this family-owned business serves fantastic breakfast and brunch Tuesday through Sunday. With locations in Salt Lake City, Draper, and American Fork, you’re never too far from this SLC staple. If it’s your first visit, order The Hoss, a homemade biscuit with fried chicken breast, egg, bacon, cheddar, sausage gravy, and a green onion garnish, and wash it all down with one of their delicious homemade limeades. The classic mint limeade is the absolute best, with the second being the raspberry and orange limeade.

14. Lazy Day Cafe

If you are in search of a great down-to-earth, locals-only, diner experience for breakfast or brunch in the Salt Lake City area with great food, then Lazy Day Cafe is your place. The food here, simply put, is delicious, and the menu covers all of the classics from pancakes to biscuits and gravy to chicken and waffles, with a good selection of vegan offerings as well. The made-from-scratch lemon pancakes are the absolute star of the show and are served with a house-made buttermilk syrup that is so good you could drink it (get our homemade version of this recipe here). Our favorite savory menu items are the pork chile verde burrito, the shrimp and grits, and the classic eggs benedict.

13. The Rose Establishment

Welcome to one of the most gorgeous coffee shops serving some of the best breakfast and brunch in Salt Lake City. The Rose Establishment serves a fantastic no-fuss selection of savory and sweet breakfast and lunch entrees. Their avocado tartine is something we dream of, made with smashed avocado topped with candied lemon chips, olive oil drizzle, and fleur de sel served on Eva’s Bakery 5-seed bread. Make sure you also try the Standard, made with two herbed potato cakes, two free-range soft-cooked eggs, and pork belly bacon with house-smoked tomato jam.

12. Oasis Cafe

Certainly a local gem, we haven’t seen a morning where Oasis Cafe wasn’t packed with loyal patrons. Using local fresh produce, Oasis Cafe specializes in fresh, whole ingredients that will make you feel good. Their brunch menu is served daily until 3:00 p.m., so you have more than enough time to down your fair share of appetizers, eggs benny, and pancakes. You really can’t make a wrong move ordering anything on their menu but we’re partial to their German buttermilk pancake. Covered in fresh blueberry compote and baked in a skillet, you need this hotcake in your life immediately. We also recommend their huevos rancheros for a killer and substantial savory breakfast.

11. Root’d Cafe

Nestled on the edge of Cottonwood Heights is Root’d Cafe, a trendy, local gem serving up some of the best brunch dishes in Salt Lake City. Root’d Cafe excels at many things, with their benedicts being one of them. Our favorite benedict is the Root’d Eggs Bene featuring prosciutto, grilled tomatoes, and perfect poached eggs topped with house-made hollandaise that’s so good you’ll want to write home about it. The brown butter pancakes are also a delightfully agreeable sweet item to round out your meal. Lastly and most importantly: all food and drink options are to be enjoyed on the patio.

10. Beaumont Bakery & Cafe

For some of the most satisfying and consistently delicious breakfast in the Salt Lake Valley, head straight to the Beaumont Bakery. This photogenic bakery and cafe serves breakfast daily, and whether you’re dining in or swinging through their drive-thru (one of the best in town) their food will leave you satisfied. Their avocado toast is one of the best avocado toasts you will ever consume, made with roasted corn, cotija cheese, fresno chiles, and microgreens (make sure to add an egg), and both the breakfast croissant and breakfast burrito completely hit the spot when you’re in the mood for fluffy, velvety eggs wrapped in a tortilla or sandwiched between a housemade buttery, flaky croissant.

9. La Barba Coffee & Breakfast Tacos

More than just a state-of-the-art coffee roaster, La Barba in Salt Lake City is known for their delicious, fresh, and made-from-scratch breakfast tacos. Located downtown, this small cafe is surprisingly spacious and offers plenty of seating for you and anyone else who enjoys tacos for breakfast. Everything here is made from scratch, including the heavenly flour tortillas and the undeniably flavorful house-made salsas. Swing by for both of our favorites– the bacon, egg, and cheese taco or their black bean, potato, and pickled red onion taco. These breakfast tacos are refreshingly simple, cooked on the spot, and are always delicious– just the way we like it.

8. Tulie Bakery

One of our favorite bakeries in SLC, Tulie Bakery not only makes some of the very best pastries in town, but also serves a modest but unforgettable breakfast menu. Whether you’re visiting their original location on 700 South, or their newer spot in the 15th and 15th neighborhood, you are in for a treat. Aside from their incredible assortment of freshly baked French pastries, they serve breakfast every morning including steel cut oats with fresh fruit, a variety of homemade toasts with different toppings and spreads, and their unforgettable brioche french toast, made with their housemade brioche bread, whipped creme fraiche, and fresh fruit.

7. Frankie & Essl’s

Any self-respecting brunch guide needs at least one breakfast sandwich shop, and we couldn’t be happier to endorse Frankie & Essl’s. Locally owned and specializing in breakfast sandwiches, Frankie & Essl’s is the perfect neighborhood joint for a quick takeout meal or a cozy brunch with a friend. A toasted and buttered brioche bun topped with two fried eggs is always a good idea for brunch. One of our favorite combos is the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with chipotle aioli sauce. It’s as good as it sounds and well worth your time. We would be in line for these no-frill breakfast sandwiches every morning if we only lived a smidge closer.

6. SLC Eatery

SLC Eatery is just a few years old in the Salt Lake City restaurant scene but they serve some of the very best brunch in town. The menu offers a variety of both small plates and bites and full-fledged entrees, so come hungry to try a couple or few things (you won’t regret it). Menu favorites include the Okonamiyaki Benedict, the tres leches french toast, or the Eatery burger (one of the best in town) if you’re in the mood for a something savory and substantial.

5. Oquirrh Restaurant

Oquirrh is an extraordinary restaurant in the downtown area of Salt Lake City, and although most people come here to enjoy their stellar dinner menu, their brunch is nothing to sleep on. Every dish is packed with flavor, elegance, and that can’t-get-enough-of-this factor, which is exactly why we can never eat here too many times. For something sweet, get the bread pudding french toast, topped with seasonal fruit and maple syrup. If you’re down for something savory, try the eggs benedict (both the classic and crab are killer) or order the Oquirrh burger for one of the best burgs in town.

4. Feldman’s Deli

Feldman’s Deli is the only authentic Jewish deli for miles within the SLC area and serves some of the best breakfast and brunch in Salt Lake City. We’re typically here for their swoon-worthy sandwiches during their lunch and dinner hours, but the breakfast menu is not to be missed. Breakfast offerings are almost exclusively savory, with menu items like salami and eggs, the Feldman’s omelet, or corned beef has. You’re here for the eggs benny (our favorite), served on a Jewish latke with Taylor ham and to-die-for hollandaise sauce.

3. Urban Hill

As if we needed another reason to visit Urban Hill, they also have a stellar brunch menu on Sunday mornings. It’s outstanding and truly some of the best brunch in Salt Lake City. When you’re getting a reservation for Urban Hill brunch, we recommend the earliest time available to watch the restaurant slowly come to life in the gorgeous interior dining room. Start your morning with a Hill’s Kitchen orange roll for a perfectly baked roll topped with the perfect amount of cream cheese frosting (literally had icing for every bite). For the main event, order the green chile eggs benedict (the kick of green chile is everything and signature to Urban Hill). Now this is brunch.

2. Manoli’s

Manoli’s is one of the best restaurants in Salt Lake City, but often overlooked is their brunch, offered Saturday and Sunday every weekend. Manoli’s is a Mediterranean restaurant, so you can expect a great mix of traditional and unconventional brunch dishes, from biscuits and gravy, to loukaniko (Greek sausage) and eggs, to myzithra pancakes. Menu favorites include the made-to-perfection house greek yogurt (served with local honey and seasonal toppings), the aforementioned light and fluffy myzitrha pancakes, and their classic and completely satisfying eggs benedict.

Situated away from downtown in Millcreek, Roots Cafe has everything you want in a great neighborhood breakfast establishment: the perfect cozy and laid back environment, warm and friendly service, and (above all) fantastic food that will leave you satisfied and beyond. Roots Cafe serves fresh and flavorful menu items, so whether you’re enjoying a green smoothie with scrambled eggs or biscuits and gravy, you’ll always leave feeling happy and contented. Start with one of their fresh juices (we love “the cleanser”), and order the huevos rancheros, the eggs benni, the mixed berry crepes, or one of their delicious and filling buckwheat pancakes or the “pancake of the day” special.
