11. Morning Kick

Breakfast burrito lovers unite at Morning Kick! What started as a food truck (which can still be found on weekends at the Gilbert Farmer’s Market) has become a friendly, family-run establishment in Chandler, and they are serious about breakfast burritos. All burritos are stuffed with tots, scrambled eggs, and a variety of meat and cheese. We love the carne asada, or for something with a bit more of a morning kick, go for the chorizo with green chile sauce. They also make a handful of salsas, so if you want to add a bit of flavor, grab a side of their chipotle aioli! 

10. Prep & Pastry

Looking for a cute spot for a girls’ brunch? Head to Prep and Pastry! Not only do we love the chic atmosphere here, but of course, we love the food. Start by checking out whatever’s in the pastry case. The selection varies according to whatever the chef is whipping up that morning, but go early for the best selection (the cronuts sell out quickly!) For the main, we love the guac toast, which is anything but basic with pickled onion, radish, and chipotle crema. There’s also Prep’s Breakfast Sammie with thick bacon, two types of cheese, and tomato aioli on a made-in-house English muffin. The side of smashed roasted potatoes is also devine. 

9. La Grande Orange

With their breakfast menu available until 5 p.m., La Grande Orange, or LGO, is the perfect spot for a lazy weekend brunch. You’re here for the Commuter Sandwich, a simple but absolutely delicious breakfast sandwich served on a housemade fluffy English muffin. It comes with your choice of meat or avocado, but we recommend upgrading to both because why would you want to make such a tough decision in the morning?

8. Joe’s Farm Grill

Known for their locally sourced, homegrown ingredients, we’ve already talked about our love of Joe’s for their burgers and fries, but they also offer some of the best brunch in Phoenix. Don’t expect anything over the top here—their motto is “common food done uncommonly well”—and that’s exactly what you get. We love the chicken and waffles with hand-breaded chicken tenders and a maple honey mustard sauce. It’s truly what dreams are made of.

7. Vovomeena

Creativity and skill meet at Vovomeena. Named for the owner’s Portuguese grandmother, this trendy cafe is a favorite for a creative breakfast in Midtown. Choose from a variety of eclectic brunch dishes, but if you are an eggs benedict lover, the choice is easy—go for the Mexican benedict. This dish gives eggs benedict a southwestern flair with savory pork chorizo, and is topped with a pair of sopes (thick, fried masa shells) instead of English muffins, which complement the flavor and soak up the sauce. 

6. Worth Takeaway

If you’ve been following us for a while, you know we are obsessed with Worth Takeaway in Downtown Mesa (if you’re new, check here, here, and here), so it’s no surprise that they also serve some of the best brunch in Phoenix. Brunch is only available on the weekend, and the menu is small, but you can’t go wrong!  Our go-to is the gooey, cheesy Croque Madame sandwich with sourdough bread, smoked ham, white cheddar, dijonnaise, and an over-easy egg. You can also grab an amazing breakfast burrito here—our favorite is the California breakfast burrito. 

5. OEB

OEB is a Canadian breakfast chain with a distant location in Scottsdale, and we are so lucky to have them in the desert. What sets OEB apart is its breakfast poutine—a truly Canadian dish. Trust us when we say it is a must-try. Our favorite poutine is called Soul in a Bowl, a mix of duck-fat fried potatoes, thick bacon lardons, poached eggs, and fresh cheese curds topped with brown-butter hollandaise sauce. Each individual ingredient is incredible (the breakfast potatoes are some of the best you’ll ever have), so all together, it’s a magical dish. If you’re not in the mood for poutine, the avocado toast is another one of our go-to’s.

4. Ollie Vaughn’s

The quaint Ollie Vaughn’s offers a little slice of peace in the middle of busy Midtown and some of the best brunch in Phoenix. Before you order, take a few minutes to look over the scrumptious selection of pastries in the bakery case and pick at least one sweet thing to complement your meal. For your main dish, go for the biscuits and gravy—they’re the best in the city. Biscuits and gravy is a familiar favorite, but it’s taken to a new level here with a more complex, peppery, sausage gravy and a practically perfect homemade biscuit. Order a glass of orange juice and head back to the patio (a lovely little oasis) to enjoy breakfast under the orange trees your drink was made from.

3. Fàme Caffe

For some of the very best brunch in Phoenix, head to Fame Caffe, a friendly counter-service cafe in Uptown serving exceptional farm-to-table brunch. Fame draws from both Mexican and French influences (the owners are from Mexico but studied at a French Culinary Institute), so you can get both unbelievable chilaquiles and perfectly executed pain perdu french toast in the same place. If you go for the chilaquiles, be sure to add chorizo—it takes this already impeccable dish to the next level. 

2. Sugar Jam Southern Kitchen

Craving brunch with a side of Southern hospitality? Head to Sugar Jam in North Scottsdale. This restaurant is not just welcoming but a full-blown party on the weekends with a DJ bumping nonstop throwback jams. Come hungry—there are no light breakfast options to be had here. Our favorite dish is the fried chicken and Parisian French toast. The buttermilk fried chicken is moist and well-seasoned, and the French toast is crisp on the outside and covered in cinnamon and powdered sugar. Plus, the French toast comes with their signature vanilla butter and pecan maple syrup on the side. We also love the brisket and biscuits (biscuits and gravy topped with a heaping pile of brisket) and the on-the-side herbed breakfast potatoes. Two warnings: you will need a reservation for the weekend, and you may never want to leave.

1. Matt’s Big Breakfast

Matt’s Big Breakfast is a well-known Phoenix establishment, and for good reason: they serve the very best brunch in Phoenix. Don’t expect frills or fuss here, but instead you can expect simple, perfectly-executed breakfast foods. They serve the best pancakes in the Valley—fluffy, sweet pancakes which are simultaneously elegant and down-to-earth, as pancakes should be. Craving something savory?
