When planning your next SF trip around donuts, consider our guide to the best donuts in San Francisco your itinerary.
7. Hookt Doughnuts
Hookt not only has amazing donuts but also has one of the best donut shop locations in San Francisco. You’ll find Hookt located at an outside food market, filled with over a dozen restaurants. This place is a charming, family-friendly spot, offering fun for people of all ages (think: a mini-golf course, picnic tables, bistro lights, etc.) Hookt has six different flavors to choose from, but the Oreo Blast is undoubtedly our favorite. Perfectly chewy and crunchy at the same time. Hookt’s mini donuts remind us of the type you eat until you’ve reached sugar coma-status at the State Fair (but much better). These are a little pricey for mini donuts, but the fresh-made quality and fun location make them worth the money.

6. Mochill
Mochill is the underdog of all the donut locations in San Fransisco, but it is a must-visit. Located in Japan Town, Mochill is the place to go for mochi donuts. Somehow these wonderous donuts are chewy, fluffy, crisp, and gooey all at the same time. We love the daily rotating menu, and some of our favorite feature flavors are cinnamon sugar, Nutella, and cookies and cream. If you don’t know where to start, we recommend trying the special flavors of the day, which are fresh and guaranteed to be delicious. There are so many other fun restaurants and shops in the area and the parking was affordable, which is a huge plus! Stop by for some of the best donuts in San Francisco.

5. Mr. Holmes Bakehouse
Mr. Holmes Bakehouse has become a trendy hotspot for locals and tourists alike, but it absolutely lives up to the hype. This cute bakeshop is known for its specialty baked goods, especially the cruffin. But their best-kept-secret? The donuts. You can get these donuts in incredible rotating flavors and stuffed with either jelly or cream. Our favorite flavors? The Elderflower Vanilla Cream and chocolate Nutella. If you choose the cream route (we highly recommend), your donuts will be stuffed to the brim with fresh, flavorful cream that complements the fluffy brioche donut perfectly. All the pastries here, including the donuts, sell out fast every day and they close up shop once they are sold out. We recommend getting there early to ensure you get some of the best donuts in San Francisco.

4. Trish’s Mini Donuts
PSA! Trish’s mini donuts are addicting and hands-down some of the best donuts in San Francisco. Located at Pier 39, Trish’s almost always has a long line. But, the line is 100% worth waiting in. Plus, you get to watch the donuts being made while you wait! We decided to get the bucket, which comes with 36 mini donuts in a souvenir bucket for $15. The bucket is the best option if you are sharing with family or friends. You can order the donuts plain or with cinnamon sugar, but we recommend getting the cinnamon sugar because YUM.

3. Bob’s Donuts
Bob’s is one of the most classic donut shops you can visit in San Francisco. It’s truly an SF staple—serving up some of the best donuts in San Francisco, open 24/7, and offering the best prices in town (six donuts for under $10!). If you are into maple donuts, do not skip Bob’s. Their maple donut is light and fluffy with a perfectly crispy outside, and the maple icing is the perfect amount of sweet without being too overpowering. Bob’s has truly mastered the maple donut and we are forever grateful.

2. Johnny Doughnuts
Johnny Doughnuts, a modern coffee shop with plenty of history, will have you in love at first bite with their delicious donuts—some of the best in San Francisco. You can’t go wrong with these artisanal, doughy delights. Johnny’s version of a jelly donut utilizes flavors like Huckleberry, which gives such a sweet and tart taste to their already delicious plain donut. One of our all-time favorites is their apple caramel fritter—a classic raised donut stuffed with apple pie filling and topped with a beautiful glaze and crumble combo. We also have heart eyes for the lime mascarpone-stuffed donut, which is light, tangy, and sweet all at the same time. The dining area here is perfect for a gathering with your donut-loving friends and family.
