Welcome to Dallas, Texas—where our food is smoked and our desserts are sweet. Texas is well known for its smokey BBQ and fried chicken, which is best when rounded off with a slice of delicious, homestyle pie. With numerous options for sweet homemade pie in this city, how do you know where to turn? Enter: our guide to the best pie in Dallas!
With several new pie shops popping up around town amongst our favorite tried-and-true destinations, we took the challenge to give every last spot a try in order to compile our guide to the best pie in Dallas. It was a serious and utterly delicious task. And although there is a LOT of good pie to be had in Dallas, we have selected only the best of the best for our guide below. We hope you enjoy!
9. BIRD Bakery
Either you love it or you hate it—pecan pie. If you are the former, there is no better place than Texas to fulfill your pecan pie dreams. And the pecan pie from BIRD Bakery, with its whole pecans nicely covered in a sugar glaze atop a sweet and gooey filling sitting on a flaky and perfectly crisp crust, is one of the most delicious options in the city. It’s more nutty than sweet, so if you’re a purist pecan fan, you’ll enjoy this pie. Because this is a full-service bakery and not strictly a pie shop, the pie options are a bit limited (five or six offerings at a time). But don’t let that dissuade you, as each pie is completely worth the visit. Pecan is an obvious favorite. Or try the key lime—with its strong, zesty flavor, a crust soaked in syrup and lime juice and a soft layer of whipped cream to sweeten the deal. It’s delicious!

7. Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop
With some of the best pie in Dallas and the benefit of several locations, it’s a no-brainer, this place absolutely deserves a spot on our guide. When asked about the most popular pie the first time we visited, the cashier rattled off option after option and we knew immediately this place was a winner. The coconut pie was creamy and thick and custardy, with a fluffy, lightly toasted meringue layer on top. It is sweet and perfectly coconutty. The apple pie is equally fantastic, featuring a flaky lattice crust, gooey caramel apples inside, and generous amounts of cinnamon sugar sprinkled all over the top. It’s the perfect marriage between apple crisp and apple pie. YUM.

6. JudyPie
JudyPie is a darling little pie shop with countless options, from traditional pumpkin and chocolate silk, to more unique flavors like creme brulee or Honey Bee (a pie made with honey whiskey throughout the crust and whipped cream). Rest assured, there is a flavor for everyone here and plenty of space inside to enjoy it. If we have to pick favorites, we’d pick JudyPie’s delicious strawberry rhubarb pie. This little slice of heaven is perfectly sweet with just enough tart to make your mouth water, all inside a light, flaky, and beautifully golden crust sprinkled with sugar. It is simply wonderful. Eat up some of the best pie in Dallas, then walk the charming main street of Grapevine for a perfect evening.

5. Texas Harvest Pie Company
Any guide to the best pie in Dallas should certainly include a small-town pie shop, which you’ll find in Texas Harvest Pie Company. In an old house, in a little Texas town, Texas Harvest Pie Company is a hidden gem full of delicious homestyle pies. We have all the heart eyes for this straight-out-of-a-picture-book shop made complete with its quaint front porch and glass armoire filled with pies.
The charm will knock your socks off. But we’re here for the pie. Luckily, that will knock your socks off too. Here, you’ll be served your all-time favorite flavors like apple, pumpkin, buttermilk, mixed berry, pecan, and chocolate pecan. But the star of the show here is the lemon chess. It features a fantastic, flaky crust, a zesty lemon custard/curd-like filling, and a sweet, slightly crisp top layer to bring it all together into a smooth and flavorful bite.
It’s like a buttermilk pie with a lemon twist. And it is simply delightful. After indulging in a slice of pie, stop next door for a sweet drink at Lisa’s Lemonade or peek into each of the unique little boutiques lining the street.

4. Humble: Simply Good Pies
A small, unassuming space inside a busy strip mall is where you’ll find the perfectly named pie shop, Humble: Simply Good Pies. With endless pie options and plentiful seating, this is a great place to meet up with a group of fellow pie lovers. Offering all the traditional flavors you know and love as well as some fun new twists, there’s something for everyone here. We really love the shop’s most popular flavor, the Bayou Goo, which is crafted with a flaky golden crust, a delicious cream cheese layer mixed with candied pecans, a layer of smooth chocolate cream, and topped with rich whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and more candied pecans. It is a flavor explosion of sweet and salty with a wonderful mixture of smooth and crunchy textures. Easy to see why it’s such a popular flavor. We also gave the peanut butter pie a taste, which is layers of chocolate ganache, smooth peanut buttercream, sweet chocolate cream, and peanut butter cups all inside a flaky pastry crust. Delicious! Just down the street from the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden, it is a perfect place to stop.

3. Piefalootin
Piefalootin is a real Texas treasure, hidden off a side street in Garland, just a few miles outside of Dallas. Inside, a bright and cheerful shop with a glass display of pies worthy of anyone’s adoration awaits. Prepare for visual overload as you gaze at the display case full of both classic pies and a dozen or so Piefalootin originals often topped with mile-high whipped cream. Yes, if you’re wondering, choosing a flavor is the hardest part. We highly recommend the Piefalootin-famous Carmel Sawdust, which is essentially a giant Samoa cookie—a pastry crust filled with the perfect mix of caramel, coconut flakes, and chocolate. If you’re more into coconut, we’re equally as obsessed with the coconut cream pie, which has a flaky crust topped with a tall, creamy coconut pudding layer and a crazy amount of fluffy whipped cream.

The moment you step inside MeLisa’s, you instantly feel at home. Surrounded by bright walls filled with quotes and pictures of pie, MeLisa herself stands behind the counter and cheerfully gives pie suggestions and samples, all while making casual conversation as if she were a long-lost friend. She is as delightful as her amazing pies. If you’re a chocolate cream pie fan, MeLisa’s is the best we’ve ever tried. It has an incredibly thick and perfectly made graham cracker crust. Inside is a thin layer of cream cheese, topped with silky smooth chocolatey goodness, finished with homemade whipped cream and shaved chocolate. The combination of flavors and textures is an absolute win. The key lime is also an outstanding option, built with the same genius crust, then piled high with sweet and wonderfully tart key lime filling. With over a dozen delicious pie options, MeLisa certainly deserves her title of ‘The Pie Lady’ and easily earns a top spot on our guide to the best pie in Dallas.
