West Hollywood: Obicà Mozzarella Bar

Obicà in Naples Italian means “Here it is!” Obicà, coming all the way from Italy, centers their cuisine around fresh mozzarella di bufala. You can try their different types of mozzarella or have a dish with mozzarella as the main ingredient. All are amazing and worth trying, from their appetizers to their desserts. Everything is authentic Italian cuisine and you can taste the quality.

Obicà has several locations around the world in the U.K., Italy, Japan and now U.S.A. in New York City and Los Angeles. I have been to every Los Angeles location now and they are all impeccable. The staff are all very nice and accommodating. The decor is beautifully bright and modern reminiscent of the local areas. The food is incredible. They do take reservations online to make it easier through OpenTable.

For this review, I am concentrating on the new West Hollywood location on Sunset Blvd. You have three options for seating: front patio perfect for people watching along Sunset Blvd., inside on bar tops or tables, or back patio overlooking LA. Parking is super easy as there is a free parking lot in the back for the shopping center Obicà is connected to. Enter where you see a sign reading “Sunset Plaza” between H. Lorenzo and Armani Exchange.

Obicà Menu Favorites

  • Mozzarella Experience = tasting of four different kinds of mozzarella (smoked, classic, burrata, and ricotta) with beautiful meat pairings (prosciutto and salame)
  • Pappardelle all’ Anatra e Arancia = homemade rosemary pasta with crescent farm duck tuscan style ragu, orange zest
  • Tartufo pizza = mozzarella and ricotta di bufala, italian ham, black truffle
  • Ravioli Freschi = ricotta di bufala and kale homemade ravioli in sage butter sauce, parmigiano reggiano
  • Tiramisù Ricetta Tradizionale = traditional tiramisù
  • Panna Cotta al Frutto della Passione = Italian classic panna cotta, fresh passionfruit (we did not have this at the time, but we have had it before and it is amazing)
  • Classic Italian Cocktail: Passione = passionfruit and strawberry purée, prosecco DOCG
  • Classic Italian Cocktail: Bosco = strawberry, raspberry and blackberry purée, prosecco DOCG

You could have anything at Obicà and it would be the best version you have ever tried of that dish. You must stop by if you are in LA!
