It’s all about the sweet life at Baklovah Bakery & Sweets. This Mediterranean bakery is a local gem so hidden that if you blink you might miss it.
It can be a little overwhelming when you first walk into the bakery. There are so many options to choose from that you may have to take a second to plan your attack strategy. The fact that it smells so freaking good inside can easily persuade you to leave with a whole bag full of sweets. But is that a bad thing? You really can’t go wrong with any of the selections at Baklovah.
The raspberry tart had a rich, creamy filling with fresh berries and powdered sugar on top to give it just the right amount of tartness. I also chose the hazelnut macaron, which was about the size of my palm. The white chocolate drizzled cookies were simply amazing.
A friend and I had a mini feast with all of the pastries we loaded onto our small table. Their desserts come placed on delicate dolly laced wrappers that made us feel fancy. The pastries are light and airy so it won’t cause sugar overload, or worse, super fullness. You can either purchase single pastries or go big and buy some items by the pound.
Not into pastries? They have gelato! Milk and water-based gelatos are available by the scoop. You can also pick a flavor to go with a dessert. My recommendation: the chocolate mousse with vanilla or coffee gelato.
Baklovah also makes their version of pizza called Manakis, with their signature dough. You’ll often see bakers spinning fresh dough into the air. There’s always dinner and a show at Baklovah Bakery & Sweets. My only regret on my visit is that I didn’t order more dessert to-go! Don’t make the same mistake as me.
