Tacos are pretty synonymous with Texas. It’s sort of implied when you mention breakfast around here. The hard thing about finding a great taco place in San Antonio is that there’s so many of them. We have a taco restaurant almost at every corner. When friends ask me where I like to grab breakfast tacos, I tell them to go to Chela’s Tacos.
Chela’s Tacos was originally a small food truck that was parked at The Block food truck park, but they’ve expanded in the past few years to a brick and mortar spot in the Alamo Heights area. Chela’s Tacos prides itself making their tacos with the freshest ingredients.
Their best known for their chicken cilantro tacos, filled with creamy sauce, chopped cilantro and pulled chicken.
They’re super addicting! If I were you I would get at least two of them because one just isn’t enough. Once you try them, it’ll be hard to not get anything else. The tacos are a pretty decent size and come with so much meat, it’ll basically be dripping out with every bite.
If you’re a fan of beef, their carne asada tacos are equally flavorful. It comes plain with grilled beef inside a tortilla but you’re welcomed to load it with toppings at their fresh salsa bar. I like to load mine with onions and cilantro.
Their tortillas are always warm and soft, which is a must when you’re rating a good taco.
Chela’s Tacos also features combo plates for hungry patrons and traditional breakfast items like oatmeal and omelets for super picky eaters.
Every time I’ve visited Chela’s Tacos, the staff has always been so nice and sweet. You’ll be sure to get a friendly Texas welcome when you walk inside. It can get quite busy on the weekends but like most things in life, it’s always worth the wait.
