Solitude Mountain Resort is a beautiful winter and summer resort located just 30 minutes from Salt Lake City up Big Cottonwood Canyon, and has recently been made even better from its recent acquisition by Deer Valley Resort. They opened a new high speed quad in December, added a new run from the Apex lift to the new Summit Express lift, and revamped the menus at each of their restaurants- which of course gave us all the more reason to give them a visit and try some of their new offerings! Solitude is a fantastic top to bottom ski resort encompassing a gorgeous mountain, great dining options, and a quaint ski base village right off the bottom lift. They have several restaurants to choose from, stores to check out, rentals, and even an ice skating rink.

Our group of four decided to give the new menu at the Last Chance Lodge a try, which is located literally right on the mountain next to the Apex lift. They’ve got more of a Southwestern take on their re-vamped menu, offering four different varieties of street style tacos including the chipotle Dr.

Pepper braised short rib tacos, lime chili chicken tacos, chile verde tacos, and ahi shrimp tacos. Between our small group we tried all four of their taco varieties, the southwestern nachos, and the loaded fries (phew!). It was a lot of food, and the serving sizes are perfect for sharing with friends.
