The best of the best in Cajun cuisine here in Milwaukee! I am so excited to finally share Crawdaddy’s with you all! Seriously, I have a Crawdaddy’s t-shirt that I rep at the gym pretty frequently, #proud. This had been my favorite restaurant for all of high school and my early college years, until they took a brief (couple years) hiatus during the long process of moving to a new location. They have since reopened and are better than ever! Same awesome menu, new beginnings at the new place!
Every menu option is intensely authentic and rich with Cajun flavor. As for the dish in front of us, I opted for the half order (an option at lunch) of stuffed mirliton. This is a native Louisiana squash stuffed with shrimp, Andouille sausage, and crawfish stuffing, topped with Choron sauce. One of those things that has my mouth watering just looking at it. Rarely do I say you need to try it to believe me, but I honestly think my words cannot do it justice! In every bite was a bit of the bayou!
Another thing I love about Crawdaddy’s – their sides. If those look like normal carrots to you, your eyes are deceiving you! They are much more than that, and oh, how I’ve missed them. Brown sugar and butter…somehow Crawdaddy’s does this simple concept better than anyone else! The angel hair pasta is another dish that doesn’t take much to complete besides garlic and butter, but it’s one of those things that I’ve come to crave on the side of my plate!
And presenting…one of Milwaukee’s Best Eats (an award from Milwaukee Magazine), Crawdaddy’s stuffed eggplant! It’s clear to me why this dish has been given such high accolades.

You can tell with every bite the amount of thoughtfulness that went into the preparation. It is an eggplant half breaded, deep-fried, and filled with shrimp and crawfish. It is finished with Cajun red gravy and served with those lovely carrots and rice.

It’s the perfect combo of seafood and vegetables. They weren’t battling against each other, they were complementing each other perfectly.
Other hot tips from my experience: Crawdaddy’s is a great place if you’re looking for steak or crab.

I also love the Cajun stirfry, the jumbalaya, the red beans and rice…I could go on and on! If you’re looking for Cajun, you’ll find the best at Crawdaddy’s! Now, laissez les bon temps rouler! (Let the good times roll.)
