It’s fancy, French, with an excellent view! You’re up in the treetops overlooking Lake Michigan, giving the restaurant a bright and polished vibe. Although the restaurant is definitely upscale, you still won’t feel out-of-place if you decided to treat yo’self during your lunch break. With that said, it’s not your corner burger joint. I don’t usually write about fine dining, but this is a great place to stop if you’re dying to try something very special! I was pleasantly surprised by the inviting atmosphere and fabulous waitstaff at this Bartolotta’s lakefront spot.

She expertly described many of the options for us. I ended up going with the Gnocchi Parisienne. It was amazing and different from any gnocchi I have ever tried (I’m used to the Italian kind)! This dish consisted of sauteed Choux pastry dumplings with roasted corn, mushrooms, sage, and Alpine style cheese. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

I found out in my research that Parisienne gnocchi is generally much lighter the usual gnocchi made with potato!

They’re also a bit crispy on the outside, which I loved, due to being briefly sauteed in butter. Instead, it’s made with a type of paste piped directly into boiling water.

This was honestly so mouth-watering and juicy. The Steak Frites du Bistro was a grilled hanger steak with “Bistro” fries. You could choose between parsley butter, Roquefort butter, red wine shallot butter sauce, or Bearnaise to drizzle on top. In this case, we chose the red wine shallot butter sauce and there were no regrets about it. It was smooth and tangy and complemented the steak in the best way possible.

Also, this seemed to be a popular dish among our fellow diners! And for good reason. I can’t forget about those awesome fries! They were pretty ideal. Obviously fresh, hot, and well-salted. This is my favorite type of French fry, and I can’t think of a way they could have improved these “Bistro” fries!

It’s such a pretty location and a beautiful restaurant inside and out. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a locale to celebrate something special! Or if you’re just in the mood for something fancy on a weekday.
