ABakedJoint-9    ABakedJoint-13A Baked Joint is the sister location of small-batched baked goods + caffeine shop, baked & wired.  This new hot spot does not offer the enormous cupcakes that the Georgetown location offers, but they do put family recipes to the test and offer the same type of food the owners eat at home.  Simple cooking done well.

I’ve come here a handful of times since they opened in 2015, and I can honestly say I’ve never felt more at home in a food joint than I do here.  It’s never overly crowded because customers often get their items to go; they stop in for a whole loaf of bread, cup of coffee, or sweet treats and then leave.  I’m able to sit down and relax on their upper level couches and chairs with my daughter who waddles around and looks at some of their books.

ABakedJoint-6ABakedJoint-5It is really important to get a biscuit or bread item here.  Breakfast started with their tart cherry scone – pleasantly light and flaky with light moisture – not crumbly nor dry.  We also ordered the spicy sausage biscuit with egg and cheese.  Don’t be confused – that spicy sausage is actually baked into the biscuit.  Such a game changer from the traditional sausage + egg + cheese.  There is no heavy or greasy feeling to this sausage biscuit.  Just spicy and savory goodness that keeps you full until lunch.

ABakedJoint-12Their yogurt bowl is out of this world.  My goal is to try different items on menus if I go back again and again, but I continue to order this bowl.  The yogurt is sourced by local Trickling Springs Creamery; our family loves TSC’s organic whole milk and ice creams and their yogurt is no exception.  The bowl is topped with fresh fruit + agave + “hippie crack,” which should not be mistaken for anything but homemade granola.  It’s a crunchy mixture of toasted rolled oats + sliced almonds sweetened with just a dash of honey + coconut.  A Baked Joint and baked & wired both sell hippie crack by the bag; we snagged two bags!
