10. Pizzeria 712

Pizzeria 712 (originally owned by the same folks at Communal) is a gorgeous restaurant just before the crossroads of Orem and Provo on State Street. Eat here for delicious pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven with a great selection of salads and appetizers. Although the service and wait can be spotty here at times, the food is always delicious. Pizzeria 712 (320 South State Street, Orem // 801.623.6712)

9. Slapfish

Whether you’re a fan of lobster, crab, shrimp or other fishy favorites, there’s something for everyone at Slapfish. We love the crispy lobster roll, which is a warm butter roll, split at the top, and overflowing with warm and flavorful lobster. If you want to try it all, go with a group and have everyone order something different including their lobster rolls, New England clam chowder, chowder fries, shrimp ceviche, the ultimate fish taco, the daily fish salad, the lobster grilled cheese, the Dagwood (fish n’ chips) and the epic fish burrito. SlapFish (3320 N Digital Dr, Lehi, UT // 385.455.4110)

8. Seven Brothers

We love the food Seven Brothers from the shrimp and fish plates to delicious and fresh salads, burgers, sandwiches and of course their desserts. We recommend Seth’s bleau bacon salad, the Paniolo (cowboy) burger, Mom’s homemade banana bread sundae, and treat yourself to one of their shakes, preferably chocolate. The Seven Brothers mantra is “more than a meal” and we wholeheartedly agree that this aligns with the experience they provide in both their Saratoga Springs and Provo locations. Seven Brothers: Saratoga Springs – (731 N. Redwood Rd. #100, Saratoga Springs // 385.352.1200) Provo- (4801 N. University  Ave #220, Provo // 385.477.4220)

We love delicious Indian food (who doesn’t), and Bombay House provides just that: delectable, wonderful Indian food- definitely one of our top recommendations for restaurants in Provo. Located in the heart of Provo on University Ave (and same owners from locations in SLC and West Jordan), Bombay House serves classic popular dishes including chicken tikka masala, lamb saag, and shrimp coconut kurma. If you’re in Utah County and need great Indian food, this is your spot. Bombay House (463 N University Ave, Provo // 801.373.6677)

6. Chom Burger

There is nothing we love more at Female Foodie than a delicious, juicy burger and a list of best restaurants in Provo is incomplete without mention of Chom Burger. Opened just this by our friends at Pizzeria 712 and Communal (other mentions on this list) Chom serves up homemade burgers, french fries, and shakes. There are a lot of delicious menu items, but my recommendation is to try their green chile avocado burger, complete with a toasted potato bun, CHOM sauce, pepper jack cheese, green chiles, and guacamole. Fries and shake are a necessity. Chom Burger (45 West 300 North, Provo, UT // 385.241.7499)

5. Oteo

This family-owned modern Mexican restaurant serves everything from tacos to sopes to empanadas. When you arrive at Oteo, expect a friendly staff and clean, bright restaurant for your dining experience. Go with a friend, start with the queso fundido, and split a few plates to enjoy everything that their menu has to offer. We are huge fans of their tacos and you can’t go wrong with any of their protein options.  Oteo (139 South State Street, Pleasant Grove, UT // 801.993.0341)

4. Bam Bams BBQ

Bam Bams’ BBQ is a classic, no-frills barbecue joint, serving succulent cuts of brisket, ribs, pulled pork, and chopped beef. The flavors are always spot on and the service is exceptional. Owner and pitboss Cameron True takes extreme pride in serving the best barbecue you will find for miles and quite possibly in the great state of Utah . Bam Bams BBQ (1708 South State Street, Orem // 801.225.1324)

3. Sundance: The Tree Room & The Foundry Grill

This list of best restaurants in Provo and surrounding Utah County wouldn’t be complete without mention of The Tree Room and The Foundry Grill , both found at Sundance Mountain Resort. These high end dining options have the ambiance and gorgeous mountain scenery to accompany some of the best food you can find in all of Utah County. Take a short drive up Provo Canyon to Robert Redford’s mountain resort (believe it or not, we have actually seen him there). We recommend The Tree Room for special occasions and The Foundry Grill for a nice evening out but perhaps not as formal.  Sundance Mountain Resort (8841 North Alpine Loop Road, Provo Canyon // 801.892.1600)

2. Black Sheep Cafe

Black Sheep Cafe is unquestionably one of the best restaurants in Provo. With a creative spin on Navajo cuisine, Black Sheep boasts some of the most gorgeous and delectable plates in the valley for lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekends. You can read in depth about our Black Sheep dining experience *here*, but in the meantime feast your eyes on this life-changing 1/2 pound Bleu Burger with bleu cheese, caramelized onions, and bacon, served with a cab sauv reduction and mayo. Amen. Black Sheep Cafe (19 North University Ave, Provo // 801.607.2485)

1. Communal

Communal is one of our absolute favorite restaurants in Provo and also one of the best places you can eat in the entire state of Utah. Their farm-to-table experience is fresh, flavorful, and 100% worth every penny. Chef Newman does an exceptional job creating menus by season. I have yet to leave this establishment without being completely blown away by my dining experience. Eat here for an anniversary, family celebration, special holiday, or simply for a standout and amazing meal. They’re open Tuesday-Saturday and have brunch on the weekendsCommunal (102 North University Ave, Provo // 801.373.8000)

Bonus: Best Desserts in Utah County

Because a list of the best restaurants in Provo isn’t complete without an accompanying list of best desserts in Utah County. There are a lot of dessert options in the Provo/Utah County area but these are our top favorites. Enjoy!

5. Provo Bakery

Provo Bakery is everything we love in a classic ma and pa bakeshop. Their vintage bakery items are still being used, by a now younger staff, to produce beautiful doughnuts, cookies, muffins, and cakes. Try a classic cake doughnut or sticky bran muffin for the perfect sweet tooth fix. Yums. Provo Bakery (190 East 100 North, Provo // 801.375.8330)

4. Chip Cookies

One of the most satisfying desserts you can enjoy in Utah County comes from relatively new Chip Cookies, a business that delivers warm, 6 oz. cookies in Provo, Orem, and Vineyard up until 2:00 a.m. Mon-Fri and midnight on Saturdays. Cherry on the top? You can order your delicious homemade cookies with a glass of milk! You can also stop by their store front to grab cookies if you’re on the go or not in one of their delivering zones. Chip Cookies (159 West 500 North, Provo, UT)

3. Lehi Country Bakery

One of the more timeless spots on this list is the Lehi Country Bakery! Among other popular donuts spots in Utah County, Lehi Country Bakery is famous for their delicious square glazed donuts and they are amazinggggg. You’ll feel right at home with the mom and pop feel and the friendly employees. Don’t put off visiting this local favorite- they often run out! Lehi Country Bakery (172 W Main St, Lehi, UT // 801.768.9544)

2. Rockwell Ice Cream

What did Utah County ever do without Rockwell Ice Cream?? Some of our *favorite* homemade ice cream is found here in the heart of Provo. The butterfat content is perfect, the flavors are rich, and the owner and employees are friendly and happy to give you as many samples as your ice cream loving heart desires. Their flavors are changing constantly but  favorites include the salted caramel and brown butter pecan. Rockwell Ice Cream (43 North University Ave, Provo // 801.318.5950)

1. The Chocolate

A list of best desserts in Utah County wouldn’t be complete without mention of The Chocolate. Another family owned business, this dessert shop makes the BEST cake we have ever had! Picture moist, flavorful cakes served in beautiful slices. A perfect spot to grab a dessert after dinner, stop by on your way home from work, or ordering cakes for special occasions (like me- we ordered our wedding cake here and it was amazing)! If you only try one cake, make sure it’s The Husband.  The Chocolate (212 State Street, Orem, UT // 801.224.7334)

  1. Okay, love this list!! 180 Tacos is one of my favorites – their chimichurri mac and cheese is to die for. I also really recommend Oregano Italian Kitchen on University Ave (gnocchi with pesto cream sauce + truffle fries) and Emanuel’s Fresh Grill (amazing cilantro lime shrimp tacos) on 9th East. So stinking good. Oh! And Terra Mia in Orem 🙂

    1. Yay! So glad you liked it! I love 180 tacos too- the food is so delicious and their customer service is top notch. Thanks for your recommendations. Have been to Emmanuels but never tried Terra Mia or Oregano Italian Kitchen. I will put them on “must try” list! 🙂

      1. 180 Tacos is good, but sadly not the same since changing management. I do wish they would make their carnitas tacos a regular on the menu instead of a “Taco Tuesday” special. So delicious!

  2. Oh man yessssss! I agree with all of these! Pizzeria 712 is life. Except have you eaten at Bombay House? I’ve never tried India Palace because Bombay House is SO GOOD and I’ve heard it’s way better/higher quality. You should definitely try it if you haven’t 🙂 Thanks for doing these top 10s, I love them!

    1. Hey Mallory! Thanks for reading and so glad you agree with my list! I HAVE eaten at Bombay and it is AMAZING. I chose India Palace for this list because I felt like it was more of the restaurant experience I wanted to highlight in a “just Provo” post. When I make my list of favorite Indian places, you better believe that Bombay will be on there 🙂

  3. Speaking as a Texan, Bam Bams is absolutely the best bbq I’ve ever had outside of the lone star state! The sauces are all delicious as well! I’ll go there every time I’m in Utah!

  4. Casa Salza in Spanish Fork is one of my favorite spots to eat in Utah County. I prefer their salads over other similar restaurants and you can’t beat their avocado based salza. It is super yummy with their home made chips.

    1. Thank you so much! And I appreciate the clarification- I thought that it was in Lindon but Google tells me the address is Pleasant Grove. Confusing! Appreciate you stopping by 🙂

  5. Nailed it with this list. So many great places to choose from in Provo! Have you checked out the Mighty Baker next to the Provo library? Amazing desserts!

  6. This place is newe but it belongs at the top of your list. The Steam Roller Grill in American Fork next to Hobby Lobby is amazing. They cook everything in this stream roller. Nothing is greasy like most stir frys at other places. It’s fresh and packed with flavor. Its my favorite place from the toco soup, lettice wraps, pasta, rice bowls, to even the apple dissert. Everything on the menu is my favorite. I want this start up to succeed so bad i would hold a dancing sign for free. I don’t know anyone working there personally but they are all so nice. Go check it out.

    1. There were a lot of places we wanted to include on this list but unfortunately we narrowed it to 5 dessert spots. Sounds like we need to do a roundup post of the best desserts in Utah County- can’t wait to try the raspberry tart!

  7. We just tried Communal down in Provo and it is phenomenal! My tastebuds were singing the whole time and I wanted to eat everything on the menu. Thank you for your list of places to eat down here. Thank you, thank you!

  8. For an outstanding cookie experience try Cassie’s Cookies in Salem.. Best bakery cookie I have ever had. Lots of creative flavors. Free delivery. Opens at 6:00 pm.
    Best sandwich-Even Stevens
Best margarita pizza ever- Terra Mia

    1. Hi DeAnn! Thanks so much for your comment! We will have to try Cassie’s Cookies. Love Even Stevens but wanted to stick with more spots that are “local” to utah county. Also like terra mia but prefer Pizzeria 712 so decided to put them on the list.

  9. For the best cheesesteak in Utah county, and possibly Utah (sorry Moochies) you should check out Chubby’s in Pleasant Grove and Saratoga Springs. Their horseradish mayo is to die for.
