Ingredients
Hot Dogs & Toppings
8largebeef hot dogs
8potato hot dog buns
4Tablespoonsbutter
1largewhite onion, chopped
deli style banana pepper rings
Special Sauce
½cupketchup
½cupbrown sugar
¼cuphoney
½Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1teaspoononion powder
1teaspoonWorcestershire
Instructions
Grill the hot dogs: heat grill to medium-high heat. Cut 1-inch long “X” marks running up and down the length of both sides of each hot dog, about ¼-inch deep. Grill hot dogs until nice and hot and grill marks have formed, about 2-3 minutes per side. Prepare the buns and special sauce while hot dogs are grilling.
Toats the buns: spread about ½ Tablespoon of butter on the inside of each of the hot dog buns and toast until golden brown on a griddle or nonstick pack.
Make the special sauce: whisk together the ketchup, brown sugar, honey, apple cider vinegar, and onion powder in a small saucepan. Bring to medium heat and cook for about 5 minutes, until the sauce is thick and bubbly and the sugar has been completely dissolved.
Assemble the hot dogs: place one hot dog inside of each toasted bun and top with the special sauce, chopped white onion, and then banana peppers if desired. Serve hot.
