There are several great Sunday-only brunch options but we wanted to share spots that people would have access to at least twice each week. Small and iconic, known for pizza by the slice and happy hour, Barbaro doesn’t stop there. The small but punchy brunch menu includes a fun hashbrown pizza, fried chicken and sweet zeppole, and a rich focaccia-based benedict. Ordering multiple items is highly encouraged!

The bananas foster buttermilk pancakes have just the right amount of sweetness, which is good because you can still enjoy an order of their beignets for dessert. A new menu item is the chicken wings with beignets, which is truly the best of both worlds. Their beignets come in a few different varieties—classic powdered sugar, lemon curd, and seasonal rotating favorites including flavors like pumpkin spice and orange cheesecake. Despite being open for brunch 6 days of the week, you’ll likely find a crowd here so be prepared to wait a bit during peak times.

If you’re ever touring San Antonio’s Southtown, the Guenther House is a must-stop for great breakfast and some fun SA history. Home to the iconic Pioneer Flour Mill, The Guenther House offers a wide selection of their famous house-milled and made waffles, pancakes, and biscuits for all-day breakfast on their patio or in the basement of the historic home.

The strawberry sweet cream waffles are the star of the show here, but we also love to pair the waffle with fried chicken if you need a more savory midday meal. Honorable mention goes to the biscuits and gravy—hearty, flavorful, and so comforting. The restaurant still includes the original kitchen, tea room, dining room, and the outdoor green spaces of the Guenther House that flank a quiet section of the famous Riverwalk.

They make delicious sweet breakfast items including pancakes, french toast, and waffles, and have also mastered the art of smoking and curing their own meat. For something a bit sweet and savory, the Calico Hash is one of our favorites. It features smoked pulled pork and a sweet potato hash topped with eggs and served with a side of pancakes. If you blink you might miss the Alley on Bitters that houses this gem of a restaurant. Meadow is a southern-inspired neighborhood eatery serving up a seasonal menu of local, contemporary comfort food and a killer weekend brunch. Their warm and cozy environment includes kitchen view seating, space for large parties, and a large picturesque patio.

Their brunch is a thoughtfully curated menu of southern staples like steak and eggs, chicken biscuits, and a grilled pimento cheese sandwich. Their snack and sides have everything from biscuits and sausage and cheese grits to their bacon-egg-and-cheese fries and banana pecan bread; this completely pulls their lunch and breakfast items together into the perfect brunch spread. 5. Box Street

From popular food truck to brick and mortar, Box Street has a modern, creative take on all-day-brunch. They’ve discovered the universal love Texans have for brunch and made a place where you can always count on the best chilaquiles, twice fried wings, empanadas, breakfast benny’s, and sandwiches. Their location at Hemisfair is the best place to dine between city perusing. It’s ultra charming and eclectic. Their new location up north accommodates more people and is a great respite from shopping at La Cantera. 

If it’s sweet you’re looking for, their thicc boi pancake is cast iron baked, topped with vanilla butter, and smothered in mini chocolate chips and cherry compote. Their chilaquiles are the best combination of crunchy, creamy, salty and umami. Their box st. brekky is a more classic way to dip your toes into their creative menu and includes their brussels hash and house-made milk bread, alongside your favorite bacon and eggs. This is definitely one of San Antonios best brunch spots for trying something new.

4. Bakery Lorraine

Bakery Lorraine is among a sea of great food at The Pearl but most definitely stands apart. You won’t find a croissant like theirs anywhere else in town and their breakfast is truly some of the best in San Antonio. Menu favorites include the quiche Lorraine or the sausage and egg croissant sandwich. Be sure to grab at least one of their delectable pastries too (the pop tarts are an undeniable favorite) and if you didn’t have a croissant with your breakfast make sure to enjoy one of those too!

While so many restaurants are only open for breakfast on the weekends, Full Belly serves up some of the best brunch and breakfast in San Antonio every day of the week. At the top of the must-try list here are their baked eggs—two eggs nestled into a creamy, roasted garlic and thyme sauce, ham, and a drizzle of house hot sauce. All served with toast slices for dipping and scooping. It’s one of the finest breakfast indulgences you can find in SA! Their apple strudel pancakes are also noteworthy and served perfectly with a crumble topping, a sticky-sweet sauce, baked apples, and whipped cream piled on top of the hotcakes. Their menu is concise but leaves nothing out, covering all your breakfast cravings from biscuits to benedicts.
