When I was in college I was always on the lookout for quality eats that fit into my broke college girl budget. I may have graduated a few years ago, but luckily one of my favorite spots is still just as good and affordable as I remember it. The Station Cafe is a cute little shop inside the King William District, which is known for its vibrant culture and nightlife.
Inside The Station Cafe there’s art from local artist and differently patterned wallpapers on various walls. It’s probably one of the only places that features a giant kitten to watch you eat.
The menu at The Station Cafe has a little of everything — sandwiches, pizzas, salads, and desserts. There are more than 20 varieties of sandwiches with hot and cold options. I’d recommend the Station Club if you’re in the mood for something simple or if you’re all about the spicy life, the Turkey Chupacabra is a great choice.
The Station Cafe Club is loaded with ham, turkey, mozzarella, and cheddar. The bread is always super soft and plushy. When you grab the sandwich, you can feel your fingers press into buns.
The Turkey Chupacabra is a monster of a sandwich. This finger-licking sandwich oozes with serrano pepper sauce and melted cheeses.
Every day, The Station Cafe has a combo special of the day where you can choose between a slice of pizza or a cup of soup with a fresh salad. They have a few vegetarian options including their veggie sandwich, cheese and veggie pizza, and soups.
To take full advantage of the San Antonio experience, you can order a sandwich to-go and venture into the nearby parks, which are in walking distance. Be sure to visit during the week because they are closed on the weekends. Luckily, The Station Cafe is open late during weekdays if you need a sandwich fix! Just remember to bring your appetite because these sandwiches are no joke!
