19. Lone Star Taqueria
Lone Star Taqueria not only serves some of the best tacos in Salt Lake City, but they also have a drive-thru, which makes them one of the best fast casual restaurants around. While Lone Star’s award-winning fish tacos, with delicious rotating “catch of the day” creations, are phenomenal, our favorite taco here is the carne desebrada (shredded beef). The meat is the juiciest and most flavorful of all the tacos offered at Lone Star. Rest assured, though, that no matter your pick, Lone Star is a consistently amazing spot for fast casual food in SLC. Oh and be sure to order their chips and guac!

18. J.Dawgs
J.Dawgs is beloved by many Salt Lake City natives for serving the tastiest hot grill, all-natural hot dogs, making it an obvious choice for one of the best fast casual restaurants in SLC. Since 2004, J.Dawgs has been making the simple hot dog that much better with homemade buns, fresh toppings, and flavorful out-of-this-world J.Dawg sauce. The beauty of J.Dawgs is that you can top your dog with whatever you want, but we recommend a beef dog with J.Dawg sauce, onions, and sauerkraut. Be warned if you’ve never had J.Dawgs before–they’re terribly addicting.

It’s hard to think of a better place to snag a fast casual meal than at the freestyle taco joint Roctaco. Influenced by the world’s “street food” flavors, Roctaco serves up deliciously flavor-packed tacos with familiar tastes like chimichurri, Korean short ribs, and chicken tikka masala. Our favorite taco here is the Rude Bull: a carne asada taco with avocado crema, chipotle lime, creamy avocado cilantro sauce, pickled onions, queso fresco, and cilantro. If you love Tex-Mex, Korean, Indian, Vietnamese, and more, this spot is worth your time.

Most well-known for their arepas, Arempas serves up tasty little sandwiches overflowing with a variety of meats and vegetables. We’re obsessed with the pabellon arepa, which is filled with tender shredded beef, fried plantains, black beans, and cheese. Paired with their creamy avocado and garlic sauces, this makes for a fast and tasty food experience.

1. Pretty Bird
One of the best fast casual restaurants in Salt Lake City is undeniably Pretty Bird. It didn’t take locals long to catch on to just how fantastic this hot chicken is. Pretty Bird serves its famous chicken in the form of nuggets and tenders, but our favorite way to enjoy this deliciously crispy chicken is on the fried chicken sandwich, which is served with slaw, pickles, and pretty bird sauce on a buttered bun. It’s a heavenly combo that hits all the right flavor notes. Pretty Bird often has a line out the door, but it moves fairly quickly. If you’re truly in a hurry, make an online order or go right when they open.
