Shake Shack is my go-to whenever I’m on the East Coast, so I often find myself craving a soft potato bun whenever I’m in the mood for a burger. CHOM Burger is Provo’s answer to the lack of Shake Shack and potato buns here in the Mountain West. CHOM is the newest brainchild of Colton Soelberg, who is also the genius behind Utah County favorites Communal
and Pizzeria 712
One of my favorite burgers at CHOM is the green chile avocado burger. With a soft toasted potato bun, thin beef patties (I like to double up), pepper jack cheese, lettuce, roasted green chile, guacamole, and CHOM sauce, every bite is like a little taste of heaven. Paired with crispy sweet potato fries and a strawberry shake (a seasonal flavor), this burger is a true winner. I could put guacamole on almost anything, so this burger is definitely usually the one calling my name.
You can never go wrong with the burger that’s named after the restaurant. The CHOM burger is your basic, everyday burger: potato bun, beef patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, CHOM sauce. It’s the classic burger you want when you’re craving a burger. The CHOM burger with fries and an Oreo shake is what I imagine the American Dream to look like.
I consider myself a bit of a fry connoisseur, so I just want to take a quick moment to talk about these fries. See these fries? They are the perfect texture; crispy, slightly salty exterior, soft interior. Each fry is like a perfect little pillow. I like to dip my regular fries in my shake, but you can eat ’em however you like. Just as long as you eat them.
CHOM also has a breakfast menu, which features favorites like the bacon egg & cheese sandwich, the sausage egg & cheese sandwich, and sweet rolls with cream cheese frosting. There’s something for everyone! Next time you’re in Provo, give this burger and shake joint a try. It’s got the brightest sign in Provo so it’s hard to miss!
